New chief executive of Rape Crisis Scotland announced

Alev Taylor has been appointed the new chief executive of Rape Crisis Scotland.

She takes over the role with immediate effect, having served as interim chief executive since March.

Alev has previously held senior roles at organisations supporting survivors of sexual violence. She comes with significant experience in governance, financial and operational management, service development and leadership.

Previously the chief executive of Rape and Sexual Abuse Service Highland (RASASH), Alev also spent seven years working for Rape Crisis services in England, bringing with her a strong understanding of the third sector and its challenges.

Katie Hardy-Jensen, co-chair of Rape Crisis Scotland’s board of directors said: “Following a full recruitment process, we are delighted to appoint Alev to the role of chief executive on a permanent basis.

“Alev has demonstrated a strong commitment to survivors, the values of the organisation, and the importance of supporting high-quality services across Scotland.

“We are confident Alev will bring the leadership and ambition needed to improve outcomes for survivors and advocate for the systemic change which is desperately needed to tackle gender-based violence across Scotland.

“She is ideally placed to lead Rape Crisis Scotland, and we look forward to supporting her in that role.”
