Rape & Sexual Abuse Service Highland (RASASH) Support & Advocacy Workers x 2

Support & Advocacy Worker x 2 28hr per week post(s) RASASH logo

Salary: £27,992 pro rata.

RASASH is committed to providing person centred, therapeutic emotional support and advocacy for anyone in the Highlands aged 13 or over affected by sexual violence; and to working to prevent and eliminate sexual violence in all forms.

We are currently recruiting for 2 x 28 hrs per week Support & Advocacy workers for a pilot of Visually Recorded Interview (VRI) based in Inverness but covering Highland. The VRI pilots are running in Edinburgh and Highland and are a joint project between Rape Crisis Scotland, Police Scotland, Crown office and Procurator Fiscal Service and the Scottish Government as part of the National Advocacy Project.

The pilot involves the visual recording of the police statements of rape complainers, with a view to these statements potentially being used as someone’s evidence in chief in any trial. The key aim of the post is to provide dedicated advocacy support to complainers involved in the pilot as well as to survivors who are engaged or considering engaging with the criminal justice system following an experience of sexual violence (recent or historic).

This post is funded by the Scottish Government. Funding for the national advocacy project is confirmed up to 31 March 2020 and agreed in principle for the duration of the two-year pilot which is expected to be until August 2021.
