Apologies for the delays in putting the legal seminar report on the website.

The August seminar, organised by the Women's Support Project and Rape Crisis Scotland, was on legal responses to rape in Scotland, England & Wales and New Zealand.

The speakers were: James Chalmers, Aberdeen University; Gerry Maher, Scottish Law Commission; Vera Baird, QC, Member of Parliament ( UK ); Jan Jordan, University of Wellington.

Their presentations were:

Rape & the law in England & Wales , Vera Baird

The credibility conundrum faced by rape victims seeking legal solutions, Jan Jordan.

The report contains presentations by the speakers and a report of the questions and panel discussion. You can download the report in two documents.

The first contains all the information except James Chalmers' presentation. This is a Microsoft Word document. 31 pages.

The second contains James Chalmers' presentation. This is a Microsoft PowerPoint document. 22 pages.

This is the James Chalmers presentation in Microsoft Word. You may not be able to print out the more detailed slides in a legible size, although they are legible by viewing at e.g. 150%. 29 pages.

See November News for the pdf of RapeCrisisNews3 which contains an additional report on the seminar.

Information Mailings

Rape Crisis Scotland is developing its information and resource service. As part of this we will be setting up information mailing lists. Full details will be available on the website later this year. In the meantime if you are interested, as an individual or as an organisation, in receiving mailings by email and/or post (eg briefings by email and Rape Crisis News by post) please print off the form here and return to Rape Crisis Scotland at the address on the bottom of the form.
