Thank you for visiting the Rape Crisis Scotland website. We are the national office for the rape crisis movement in Scotland.
Rape Crisis Scotland provides a national rape crisis helpline for anyone affected by sexual violence, no matter when or how it happened. The helpline is open from 6pm to midnight, 7 days a week, and offers free and confidential initial and crisis support and information. The helpline can also put you in touch with local rape crisis centres or other services for ongoing support. The helpline offers a minicom service for Deaf or hard of hearing people, and can arrange for language interpreters if your first language is not English.
Our member centres provide free confidential support and information for women and girls who have experienced any form of sexual violence at any time in their lives. You will find some commonly asked Questions and Answers here, but if you need any further information, please let us know.
NEW: RCS Helpline Survey
If you have called the RCS Helpline and would like to comment on the service you received, please click on the link to take you to an online survey. The survey can be completed anonymously and will be used to help develop and improve the RCS Helpline. Thank you for taking the time to give us your comments.
There is also a very useful new resource which was recently published by the Scottish Government for women and men (over 16) who have been raped or sexually assaulted.
You can see and download this at: : http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2008/04/16112631/0
Women ask for support about a range of issues including child sexual abuse (often dating back many years), being raped as an adult, domestic abuse, sexual assault, sexual harassment at work and ritual abuse.
Rape Crisis Scotland member centres are women only and work from a feminist perspective, recognising that rape and other forms of sexual violence are crimes of violence and abuses of power.
The Rape Crisis Scotland national office was set up to support the work of our centres and to help the rape crisis movement grow and develop and improve services to women across Scotland.
