Developments
In
recent years member centres have initiated new projects including;
Edinburgh Women’s Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre doing outreach
work in south Edinburgh, and receiving funding from the “Healthy
Respect” project for developing a training pack for professionals
and a training for trainers course about working with young women
who have experienced sexual abuse or coercion; Glasgow Rape Crisis
Centre running a project to support women in prostitution who experience
rape or sexual assault and working with other organisations to set
up a new support group for Asian women survivors of child sexual
abuse; in Dundee the Women’s Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre is
planning a new initiative to train community volunteers from around
the city to help increase public awareness about WRASAC and the services
offered; and Aberdeen Rape Crisis Centre secured funding
for their first paid worker and launched their own website. Western Isles Rape Crisis Centre, Lanarkshire Rape Crisis Centre, Argyll & Bute Rape Crisis Centre and the Women's Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre Perth & Kinross have all been newly established within the last two years. (see
