Local rape crisis centres provide emotional and practical support, information and advocacy to anyone affected by sexual violence. The abuse may have happened recently or in the past. They offer a safe and non-threatening environment where you can talk freely and in confidence about what has happened.
All centres provide an initial service to men and boys. For some centres, this involves initial signposting to other support services. Others provide ongoing support to both women and men.
All centres are staffed by fully trained paid and unpaid workers.
Local centres can help at times of crisis as well as over the longer term. Many offer outreach support, that is, they will try to meet you near where you live or work. They also work with relatives and friends and staff from other agencies.
